A social responsibility project by Euroleague, One Team’s sixth-year seminar starts today (Monday, 19 September) in Barcelona. The study group, which will be formed for two days, is being participated by Anadolu Efes Digital and Social Media Manager Utku Yusuf Özciğer as manager, and our Juniors’ Team trainer Ozan Havuzlu as One Team coach.
A social responsibility project by Euroleague, “One Team” reaches people that are in need of financial and moral support by approaching children of families having financial difficulties with basketball, enabling mentally and physically challenged people to share more through sports, and making street kids a part of our society.
One Team also supports the athletes of Special Olympics, and brings basketball into the forefront as a means of social interaction. Within the guidelines of their own projects, Euroleague teams aim to reach physically or mentally challenged children in their countries, and make them a part of our society. Thanks to One Team, which went into action in 2012, more than 5,000 children met basketball and opened a new window in their lives.
Last year, Anadolu Efes had introduced the basketball culture and the sports experience to the students of Tozkoparan Middle School at Güngören, Istanbul. Acquiring the fundamentals that could contribute to their personal growth through basketball, students had hosted our prolific player Cedi Osman at their own school.
As part of the One Team project, our team had also hosted the Special Olympics athletes, played basketball with them, and enjoyed their support in Euroleague matches.
Anadolu Efes will continue to activate its education-focused efforts during the season as part of the One Team project.
