Playing against the Greek side Olympiacos on the road in the 12th week match of Euroleague Top 16 Group F, Anadolu Efes was defeated 86-75. The game was tied at 35 at the halftime of the match, played at Peace and Friendship Stadium.
Starting the match with Draper, Janning, Perperoglou, Saric and Lasme, Anadolu Efes got its first field goal by Perperoglou. Ahead 7-6 in the fourth minute with five points by Saric, Efes was leading 13-8 in the sixth minute with two back-to-back three point field goals by Janning. Making it 16-10 with Saric and Perperoglou, Efes failed to score in the last two minutes of the quarter, and was trailing 17-16 at the end of the first 10 minutes of the game. Starting the second quarter with points by Bjelica and Krstic, Efes got a 6-0 scoring run and pulled ahead by five when the home team called a timeout: 22-17. Following Bjelica and Birkan’s points after the timeout, Efes was leading 27-23 in the 14th minute. With the opponent taking the lead 29-27 in the 15th minute, Bjelica got 1/2 and Perperoglou got 2/2 free throws, trailing 31-30 in the 16th minute. Adding a three pointer to that by Perperoglou, Anadolu Efes reclaimed the lead 33-32 with 2.30 left in the half. Efes had two more points in the remaining duration by Krstic, and the score was tied at 35 at the halftime.
Opening the score sheet in the second half with a three pointer, Perperoglou made it 38-35 in our first possession. Krstic’s prolific scoring was helped by Perperoglou with a three pointer when the score was 47-44 at 24.30. With three point field goals by Heurtel and Birkan, the score was 53-49 in the 27th minute in favor of Anadolu Efes. After the opponent tied the game with one minute left to play in the quarter, Efes was leading 57-53 with Krstic and Heurtel’s points at the end of the third quarter. Unable to score in the first 1.30 of the final quarter, Efes was ahead 62-59 in the 32nd minute with Perperoglou’s three pointer and Bjelica’s two accurate free throws. Trailing 67-66 heading into the 34th minute with four accurate free throws by Saric, Efes was behind 73-66 in the 35th minute after allowing a scoring run. Getting its 69th point by Birkan’s three pointer, Efes was trailing 77-71 after Perperoglou’s perimeter shot with 2.30 left to play in the game. Behind 80-75 with 1.30 to play following Krstic and Perperoglou’s points, Anadolu Efes could not bring the margin down any further and left the court defeated 86-75.
