Fenerbahçe: 84 - Anadolu Efes: 65

Playing on the road against Fenerbahçe at the 14th week match-up of Euroleague Top 16, Group E, Anadolu Efes was defeated 84-65. Anadolu Efes was trailing 45-31 at the halftime of the match, played at Ülker Arena.

Doğuş, having a jugal bone fracture due to a collision he had three weeks ago at the match against Armani Milano, along with Planinic and Gordon with lower back pain did not play for Anadolu Efes.

Starting the match with Birkan, Vasileiadis, Savanovic, Kerem and Bjelica, Anadolu Efes got its first field goal by Savanovic. Trailing 7-4 after Savanovic’s basket in the paint in the third minute, coach Aggelou took a timeout at 3.30 when the score was 13-4. Back from the timeout, Savanovic and Birkan’s points cut the lead down, making it 13-8. Getting only one field goal by Kerem in the second five minutes of the quarter, Anadolu Efes was trailing 21-10 passing through the first ten minutes.

Starting the second quarter with Savanovic and Bjelica’s points in the paint, Anadolu Efes brought the score to 27-17 in the 12th minute. Trailing 33-23 after Vasileiadis and Cedi’s three-point field goals, the team was down 33-25 at 15.30 with Savanovic’s field goal. Getting six more points in the remaining three minutes of the half with Kerem and Bjelica, Anadolu Efes went to the locker room trailing 45-31 at the halftime.

With two consecutive three-pointers by Vasileiadis in the second half, Anadolu Efes made it 48-37 in the 22nd minute. Getting a layup by Birkan followed by a single accurate free throw by Vasileiadis, the team was trailing 50-40 in the 24th minute. Behind 55-43 passing through the 25th minute after Savanovic’s field goal, Anadolu Efes got four more points by Bjelica and Savanovic, trailing 68-49 at the start of the last quarter.

As Emircan hit a three-pointer to score the first points for Anadolu Efes in the final quarter, Cedi’s neat slam dunk made it 70-54 in the 32nd minute. Despite getting points with Savanovic, Vasileiadis and Cedi, Anadolu Efes couldn’t manage to cut the lead down and left the court defeated 84-65.
