Hosting the Croatian side Cedevita Zagreb in the 11th week match of Turkish Airlines Euroleague Top 16 Group E, Anadolu Efes won the game 80-76. Anadolu Efes was trailing 34-36 at the halftime of the match, played at Abdi İpekçi Arena.
Starting the match with Granger, Heurtel, Cedi, Brown and Dunston, Anadolu Efes’s first points were scored by Cedi with a three pointer in our first possession, leading 3-2. Getting points by Heurtel following Dunston’s field goal from the paint, Efes was trailing 9-10 while heading into the fourth minute. With Brown and Cedi contributing, the score was 15-17 during the TV timeout at 6.30. Trailing 20-23 with 1.30 minutes left to play in the first quarter with Johnson’s three pointer followed by Dunston’s layup, Efes failed to score in the remaining duration, behind 20-28 at the end of the first 10 minutes of the game. Starting the second quarter with Johnson’s three-pointer, Efes was down 23-30 past the 12th minute. Trailing 27-34 past the 16th minute with Tyus’s points, Anadolu Efes tied the game with Saric’s five points including a three pointer Heurtel’s teardrop within the final minute of the half: 34-34. As Heurtel scored our first field goal in the second half, the score was 39-46 past the 22nd minute following Saric’s three pointer. Getting two free throws with Dunston followed by Heurtel’s scoring, Efes made it 46-48 at 24:30. Following the defensive rebound, Anadolu Efes tied the game with Granger in the 25th minute, and the score was tied 48-48 during the TV timeout. Following the timeout, Efes reclaimed the lead after a long time with Granger: 50-48. Leading 51-50 into the final three minutes of the quarter following Cedi’s free throw, Efes had one field goal by Johnson, trailing 53-54 while heading into the final quarter. Starting the final quarter with Heurtel’s field goal, Efes tied the game at 32.30 with Saric’s layup: 57-57. Tied 59-59 with Granger, Efes was helped in scoring by Brown, keeping the game in balance with a score of 65-65 in the 35th minute. As the game was tied 69-69 with three minutes left to play in the match after two free throws each by Granger and Heurtel, Birkan’s three pointer pulled Efes up 72-69 with two minutes left in the match. Leading 74-71 into the last 1.15 minutes with Saric, Anadolu Efes capitalized on Cedi and Heurtel’s free throws from the tactical fouls, and left the court victorious 80-76.
