Preparing to host the Spanish side Laboral Kutxa on Thursday, December 10th at the ninth week match of Euroleague First Round Group B, Anadolu Efes Coach Dusan Ivkovic commented on the upcoming match:
“Our last two matches in the Euroleague first round are very important to us. In these two matches, we have to improve our game as much as we can. And we must not feel relaxed for clinching Top 16. We have to focus on our weaknesses. We need to pay attention to controlling the game, and committing fewer turnovers. When we lost to Laboral Kutxa on the road, the breaking points were the 16 turnovers we committed, and having nine fewer possessions compared to our opponent. Laboral Kutxa is a very aggressive team. With 16 turnovers forced per game, they are the leading team in terms of forcing their opponents into turnovers in Euroleague. Therefore, we have to stop their fast breaks one way or another after committing turnovers. I think it’s going to be a good match. I expect my team to keep the game under control...”
Anadolu Efes’s Birkan Batuk also stated his thoughts: “As you know, we clinched Top 16 last week. However, we want to qualify to the Top 16 from the highest standing possible from our group. Therefore, our last two matches in the first round are very important to us. These two matches are also significant for preparing to the Top 16 Round. This week, we will host the Spanish side Laboral Kutxa. We primarily want to reflect our defensive strength onto the court, and then win the game with our offensive performance...”
