Defeating the Croatian side Cedevita Zagreb 80-76 at the 11th week match of Turkish Airlines Euroleague Top 16 Group E, Anadolu Efes Coach Dusan Ivkovic commented at the post-game press conference:
“This match was really crucial for my team. Our start into the game was not on a desired level. The pressure that we are under had some influence on that. We couldn’t react well to the opponent in the beginning of the match. We allowed 28 points in the first quarter. This is way too much for us. In the second quarter, my team managed to react, and we only allowed eight points in that quarter. By comparing 28 points with 8, we can see how well my team reacted to the opponent. I expected a better start into the game today. Our defense was not on a desired level, either. In the final moments of the match, my team displayed our real character, making the right decisions in shooting, and getting high percentage free throws. While we had a fairly high 2-point shot percentage of 70%, our 3-point shot percentage was only 26%. This is very low. As you know, one of our great shooters, Jon Diebler is currently injured. Our captain Doğuş is also out with an injury. We expect both players to join the team within the next two weeks. We won the match, and we have to carry on with more and more effort...”
Showcasing the best performance for Anadolu Efes with an index score of 26, Thomas Heurtel also stated his thoughts: “We were a little bit slow at the beginning of the game. Our defense was not as good as we wanted, yet we displayed our real character in the second half, and won the game. And this is what’s really important for us. We put ourselves on the correct path after the match against Darüşşafaka. Now, we will keep up what we do and proceed...”
