Defeated by the Spanish side Laboral Kutxa 92-90 on the road at the fourth week match of Euroleague First Round Group B, Anadolu Efes Coach Dusan Ivkovic commented at the post-game press conference:
“As everyone knows, the match consists of 40 minutes. My team was the better side for 39 minutes today. We managed to keep the game under control. Our defense was on a desired level in the first half of the match. Against the highly offensive Laboral Kutxa who scored an average of 93 points in the first three weeks, we only allowed 28 points in the first half. We had the game under control in this part of the match. However, we had a lot of turnovers throughout the match. In the end, we cannot afford to make 16 turnovers. Yes, we have young players and we mostly play with two playmakers as we did in this match, but committing 16 turnovers is something we simply cannot afford, as proven by this loss. We could not perform well on defense in the second half, especially compared to the first half. We conceded 28 points in the first half, but allowed 29 points only in the final quarter, losing in the extra time. My lads were able to reflect their abilities onto the court, but sometimes this may not be sufficient when you are against strong Euroleague teams. The season is pretty long and there are things we need to learn from this match.”
