Defeated 61-76 by the Russian side Lokomotiv Kuban at the ninth week match of Turkish Airlines Euroleague Top 16 Group E, Anadolu Efes Coach Dusan Ivkovic commented at the post-game press conference:
“This game was the match of the week in the Euroleague. Lokomotiv Kuban was the better side on the court. Today, they deserved the win. For us, however, it was the worst match of the season. We performed very poorly today. After losing three matches in a row in February, this match was an opportunity for us to recover. Even though we had the opportunity to prepare well for this match, we couldn’t perform well due to the stress on my lads, and the team failed to react. I bear full responsibility about this. After a 0-8 start, we fought hard and managed to tie the game at 26. Right after that, we allowed a 2-12 scoring run and got back down, which made it harder to catch up with our opponent, and we couldn’t. Due to mismatches, a big problem not only in Euroleague but also in modern basketball, we made 11 turnovers. This impaired our offense. At the end of the match, we had 12 assists as opposed to 17 turnovers. I would like to apologize from our fans.”
Showcasing the best performance for Anadolu Efes with an index score of 19, Thomas Heurtel also stated his thoughts: “Our performance was very poor today. Even though we knew how critical this match was, we performed poorly on the court.”
