Playing on the road against the Spanish side Laboral Kutxa at the first week match-up of Euroleague Top 16, Anadolu Efes won the game 72-67. Anadolu Efes was trailing 41-35 at the halftime of the match, played at Fernando Buesa Arena.
Starting the match with Heurtel, Janning, Perperoglou, Saric and Krstic, Anadolu Efes got its first field goal by Saric. As the home side was leading 10-2, Perperoglou hit a three-pointer to score our fifth point. With Saric’s three-point play helped by an and-one, the score was 8-12 in the fourth minute. After the TV timeout in the fifth minute, Anadolu Efes got eight points with Perperoglou, Draper and Lasme, trailing 24-16 after the first 10 minutes of the game. Starting the second quarter with Furkan’s three-point field goal, the team closed the gap to five points: 19-24. He also made a steal and dished the ball to Lasme for a spectacular alley-oop, making it 21-24 in the 12th minute. Increasing the intensity of defense and forcing turnovers, Anadolu Efes tied the game after Draper’s three-pointer and Cedi’s single accurate free throw in the 13th minute: 25-25. Getting a layup with Bjelica, Anadolu Efes pulled ahead for the first time in the game in the 14th minute after Lasme’s mid-range shot: 29-27. Scoring with Lasme and Saric in the remaining time, Anadolu Efes went to the locker room trailing 41-35 at the halftime.
With efficient scoring in the start of the second half, Perperoglou made it 40-44 at 22.30. With accurate free-throws by Doğuş as well as Lasme’s mid-range jumper, Anadolu Efes was trailing 50-44 at the 25th minute of the game. Making it 47-52 with Cedi’s three-pointer, the team closed the gap to four points in the 27th minute with Krstic: 49-53. Trailing 58-49 while entering the last minute of the quarter, Anadolu Efes got three points each by Krstic and Janning in the last 60 seconds, and made it a three point game: 55-58. Starting the final quarter with Cedi’s layup, the team brought the gap down to one point: 57-58. Responding to the opponent's field goal with his three-pointer at 33.30, Cedi tied the game: 60-60. Making it 64-66 with Perperoglou’s points in the 37th minute, Anadolu Efes tied the game in the 38th minute with Janning’s three-point field goal: 67-67. Leading 70-67 in the last 15 seconds with Lasme’s field goal, Anadolu Efes maintained the lead in the remaining duration and with Janning’s two accurate free throws to seal the game, left the court victorious 72-67.
