Hosting the Zalgiris Kaunas team in the 29th-week match of Turkish Airlines Euroleague and winning the game 89-62, Anadolu Efes head coach Ergin Ataman stated his thoughts post-game:
"We played a perfect game once again. We’ve done a good job against a team that defends very well. Shared the ball well on fastbreaks. Every player had the chance to touch the ball. We’ve scored 15 three-pointers but we could’ve scored more. Some easy shots were missed. It was an important victory. We’ve secured the head-to-head advantage against Zalgiris Kaunas as well. We will continue to move up the rankings.”
Ergin Ataman answered a question about the 25th anniversary of the Koraç Cup victory during the Zalgiris Kaunas match:
"It was a major victory. A European cup was won for the first time in the history of our sport 25 years ago. It was crucial in those days’ conditions. Congratulations to the whole team, especially Aydın Örs. Some of our brothers aren’t alive today, such as Doğan Hakyemez, Özcan Mutlugil, Conrad McRae, and Taner Korucu. We will keep the spirit of that victory alive, of course, but we aim to win the cup of a harder organization while basketball is rising in Turkey. It’s not easy, we were qualified for the finale in the last Euroleague that was finished. We were very close last year as well. We will push for this goal this season. Turkish basketball needs cups. For both clubs and our National Team. I believe that we need to win more cups after all these investments and attention. With the conditions of those days, Koraç Cup was a first. Anadolu Efes is at the peak of European basketball for the last three years, I hope to win the Euroleague Cup one day.”
