Winning against Olympiacos in the 6th-week match of Euroleague with a score of 84-79, our team won against Panathinacos Opap with a score of 80-77 as well and came home with two victories from Athens.
Starting the match with Micic, Beaubois, Simon, Singleton, and Pleiss, our player Rodrigue Beaubois got injured and left the game after Marcus Foster crashed into him. While Micic scored our first points with a layup, Pleiss scored underneath and after Micic’s three-pointer set the score of the first half of the quarter: 7-9. Returning from the television time-out Simon scored a three-pointer and set the score table to 14-12. Both teams continued to score, then Micic scored a tough shot and our team was trailing at the end of the first quarter: 21-22. Starting the second quarter with Buğrahan’s three-pointer, our team set the score table to 24-27. Scoring with captain Doğuş Balbay throughout the quarter, our team was trailing 40-36 at the end of the first half after Micic’s three-pointer.
Starting the second half with Micic’s points, Pleiss scored and set the score table to 47-48. Afterward, Micic scored a three-pointer and our team was leading the score table with a score of 48-50. After Simon and Moerman’s points, our team continues to lead the score table, then Micic scored from the free-throw line and set the score table to 52-59. With this score, Micic improved his score record in Euroleague from 27 to 29 and set the score of the third quarter. Starting the final quarter with captain Doğuş’s layup, our team scored with Micic 2 more points and he expanded his record. In this part of the match, Simon scored 3 points and-one and set the score table to 70-61. At the last 2-minute duration of the quarter, our team was leading the score table 77-69, defended our point advantage, and after Anderson and Moerman duo’s points won the match with the score of 80-77.
With this result, we won our first away game victory against Panathinaikos after 14 years, after the match that we won with a score of 76-73 on March 8, 2006, in Euroleague Top 16.
