Hosting the Spanish side Laboral Kutxa at the ninth week match of Euroleague First Round Group B, Anadolu Efes won the game 95-86. Anadolu Efes was trailing 46-41 at the halftime of the match, played at Abdi İpekçi Arena.
Starting the match with Heurtel, Birkan, Diebler, Brown and Tyus, Anadolu Efes got its first points by Tyus. Trailing 13-5 past the fourth minute, Efes was behind 13-7 after getting one point each by Brown and Tyus from the foul line. Scoring with Tyus, Cedi, Heurtel and Brown in the second five-minute part of the quarter, Anadolu Efes was down 21-16 at the end of the first 10 minutes. Starting the second quarter with a slam dunk by Brown, Efes got five points by Heurtel as the score was 23-27 at 12.30. Following six points by Granger and Heurtel when the margin was down to four points, the opponent coach called a timeout. After the timeout, Ahmet’s nice slam dunk brought the margin down to three points in the 16th minute: 31-34. Scoring more with Ahmet from under the paint, Efes got a field goal by Granger as the score was 37-46 in the final minute of the half. Ahmet and Diebler’s four points in the final minute helped Anadolu Efes towards a halftime score of 46-41.
As Efes got its first points in the second half with Saric, the score was 45-48 past the 21st minute. Bringing the lead down to two with Tyus, Anadolu Efes got a three pointer by Saric at 22.30, claiming the lead for the first time in the match: 51-50. Heurtel’s four points made it 55-52 in the 26th minute. Getting five points from the foul line with Heurtel, Granger and Furkan, Efes increased the lead to four points in the 27th minute: 60-56. Trailing 62-60 past the 28th minute following six points by the opponent, Efes got seven points with Saric and Heurtel in the remaining duration, ahead 67-66 at the end of the third quarter. As Birkan scored our first points in the final quarter, the score was 72-69 in favor of Efes in the 31st minute. Hitting two consecutive three point field goals, the opponent was ahead by three points in the 32nd minute: 72-75. After Anadolu Efes’s timeout, Birkan scored a three pointer when the score was 75-77 in the 33rd minute. With the score 80-81 following a three pointer by Heurtel and a field goal from the paint from Brown in the 36th minute, Efes grabbed the defensive rebound and reclaimed the lead with Heurtel: 82-81. Ahead 84-81 with Dunston’s slam dunk in the 37th minute, Efes converted defensive rebounds into points in two consecutive possessions with Granger and Diebler: 88-81. Leading 90-84 with 1.20 minutes left with Dunston, Anadolu Efes managed to score with Heurtel and Saric, emerging victorious 95-86.
