Our General Director, Alper Yılmaz, was selected as the "Gianluigi Porelli Euroleague Manager of the Year" for the second time in a row.
Yılmaz was selected as the best manager of the year in the Euroleague by the general managers of all teams in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague season, which we completed as the champion for the second time in a row in our club history.
The Euroleague Manager of the Year award is awarded to the person and club that best exemplifies the Euroleague's commitment to excellence in all aspects of club management in the previous season. The categories evaluated before voting include sporting values, fan experience, marketing and communication.
As it is known, the Gianluigi Porelli EuroLeague Manager of the Year Award has been given every year since 2005 and is seen as one of the two most prestigious awards of the Euroleague, together with the Alexander Gomelskiy Coach of the Year award. The award is given to managers who have written their success stories in Turkish Airlines Euroleague with their efforts.
Gianluigi Porelli, who has been the chairman of Virtus Bologna for more than twenty years, was among the founders of ULEB and served as the chairman, and after his death in 2009, the "Management of the Year" award began to be organized in the name of Gianluigi Porelli.
As it is known, our previously president Tuncay Özilhan was named the "Manager of the Year" in 2013 in the Euroleague.
