We were the guests of Fenerbahçe Beko in the first match of the ING Basketball Super League play-off final and we were defeated 76-85. The first half of the match, played at Ülker Sports and Event Hall, ended with a tie of 37-37.
After this result, the series came to 0-1. The second match of the series will be played on Thursday, June 9 at Ülker Sports and Event Hall.
While our team started with Larkin, Buğrahan, Elijah, Singleton and Pleiss starting five, our first basket came from Singleton and the score was 2-5 in the second minute. With seven points from Buğrahan, we were leading 9-7 in the fourth minute. After Singleton and Pleiss' points in the paint area, Erten scored three points and leveled the score in the eighth minute: 16-16. We scored two more points each with Elijah and Dunston in the remaining part and we were ahead 20-18 in the first 10 minutes of the game. When the score was 20-24 in the first 2:15 minutes of the second quarter, coach Ergin Ataman took a time-out. We brought the score to 22-24 with Buğrahan on the return from the timeout. Elijah scored a three-pointer after Larkin's only hit from the foul line, bringing the score to 26-29 in the 16th minute. With Larkin and Pleiss's points, our team was trailing 33-37 in the last minute of the half, while Singleton and Elijah contributed to the score in the remaining time, and the first half of the match ended 37-37.
Our first field goal in the second half came from Dunston, and we were behind 39-40 in the 22nd minute. In this section, we had good hits with Beaubois and with 10 points by our successful player, the score came to 49-55 in the 27th minute. After Pleiss' stylish dunk, Beaubois hit another lay-up and we were trailing 53-59 in the last 10 minutes of the game. We started the final period with Beaubois's three pointer and ended with a score of 56-62 in the 31st minute. After three points scored by Pleiss in an and-one position, the score was 61-68 at 33:30 with Larkin's layup. With points from Elijah and Dunston, we entered the 37th minute 70-79 behind. Having scored two hits with Erten and one with Elijah on the foul line, our team was behind 73-81 in the 38th minute, and Beaubois scored three points in the remaining section and we were defeated 76-85.
