In the sixth week of the Türkiye Sigorta Basketball Super League, we visited Mersinspor and secured a commanding 94-76 victory. The match, held at Servet Tazegül Sports Hall, saw us leading 51-33 at halftime.
Our team started the game with Thompson, Elijah, Erkan, Ercan, and Oturu in the lineup. Ercan and Oturu scored the first points, and we led 10-6 by the fourth minute. At the TV timeout in the fifth minute, the score was 10-11. After the timeout, Oturu came out strong, scoring nine more points, bringing the score to 19-13 by the 7:30 mark. In the final minute of the quarter, Thompson added two points, and Beaubois hit a three-pointer, closing the first 10 minutes with a 24-20 lead.
The second quarter started with points from Erkan and Beaubois, extending our lead to 30-22 by the 12th minute. Doğuş added one free throw, and Poirier hit two, followed by a three-pointer from Beaubois, which increased the lead to 36-24 at the 14:30 mark. After a timeout from the home team, Doğuş and Poirier extended the score to 40-29 by the 16th minute. Picking up the pace, Beaubois hit two threes, and Johnson added another, widening the gap to 20 points (49-29) at the 18:30 mark. Burakcan added another basket in the final 1:30, and we ended the first half ahead 51-33.
In the second half, Oturu and Ercan continued their momentum, bringing the score to 57-38 by the 22nd minute. Points from Erkan and Elijah extended our lead to 63-43 by the 25th minute. In the remaining five minutes of the quarter, Oturu contributed six points, and Elijah added two more, taking us into the final quarter with a 71-55 lead.
We started the final quarter with free throws from Beaubois and Doğuş, making it 74-55. Willis hit a three-pointer, followed by five points from Doğuş, bringing the score to 82-62 in the 33rd minute. Beaubois and Willis added more points, taking the score to 93-71 by the 36th minute. Oturu contributed one more point in the remaining moments, and we wrapped up the game with a 94-76 victory.
