
Our team started the game with Şehmus, Loyd, Erkan, Swider, and Dessert in the starting five. When the score reached 0-5 in the third minute, our head coach Kokoskov called a timeout. After the timeout, our first basket came from Dozier: 2-5. With Jones’ basket, our team trailed 9-4 at the fifth minute. After consecutive points from Şehmus and a spectaculer dunk by Jones in the eighth minute gave us our first lead in the game: 16-13. In the last two minutes of the quarter, Şehmus scored one point from the free-throw line and the first 10 minutes ended in a 17-17 tie. We opened the second quarter with a basket from Smits in the paint: 19-17. After points under the rim from Dessert, Swider hit consecutive shots to make it 29-25 in the 16th minute. With four points from Erkan, we entered the final last minutes of the half ahead 33-28. In the remaining time, Dozier and Swider each added two points and we finished the first half leading 37-35.
In the second half, our first basket came from Şehmus, giving us a 39-37 lead in the 22nd minute. We scored through our guards during this part and held a 48-45 advantage by the 25th minute. David Mutaf and Beaubois also contributed to the scoring, and after five straight points from Smits late in the quarter, we entered the final 10 minutes with a 61-60 lead. We started the final period with points from Jones and Şehmus, leading 65-62 in the 32nd minute. With baskets from Dessert and Dozier, we extended the lead to 71-64 by the 35th minute. In the last minutes of the game, after Şehmus’ points, Loyd scored two consecutive three-pointers and we won the game 81-74.
