Defeating Galatasaray 77-75 at the 20th week match of Turkish Basketball League, Anadolu Efes coach Dusan Ivkovic stated his thoughts at the post-game press conference:
“It was a very challenging game today. We had some nervous moments. It was a very important win and I believe we deserved to win the game. We deeply respect Galatasaray. They are a very good and experienced team. Ender and Sinan managed to control the game well. They desired the victory, just as we did. However, we couldn’t control the game as much as I expected. We did many mistakes. While we were leading 34-30 with four minutes to play in the first half, the opponent had a 9-0 scoring run after calling a timeout. We are very lucky not to have paid a heavy price for that. We also had mistakes in the final minutes of the game. We missed five free throws –maybe due to a loss of concentration– and made a turnover. It was a fast-paced match. Galatasaray is a strong Euroleague team, and they fought very well. In the end, we won the match. After winning the Cup and playing against Laboral Kutxa, this win is very pleasing. Now, we will play a tough match against Malaga on the road. We have to prepare as good as we can for this game...”
Anadolu Efes’s captain Doğuş Balbay also stated his thoughts at the press conference: “Today, we won a match that we played badly against Galatasaray. It is very important to be able to win when you play bad. Today was a day like that. Galatasaray also fought well and didn’t quit the fight. I hope we presented a good match for the fans. I would like to congratulate Galatasaray. Right now, we have to concentrate on the match we will play against Unicaja Malaga in the Euroleague. That game is really crucial for us. We want to play as good as we can in that game, and win it...”
