Hosting Fenerbahçe at the fifth match of Spor Toto Basketball League playoff finals, Anadolu Efes won the game 80-72. Anadolu Efes was trailing 30-37 at the halftime of the match, played at Abdi İpekçi Arena. After the match, the series is now 2-3. The sixth match of the series will be played at Ülker Arena at 20.00, Monday, June 13th.
Starting the match with Heurtel, Doğuş, Cedi, Saric and Dunston, Anadolu Efes’s first field goal was scored by Dunston. Ahead 4-2 with Cedi at 2.30, Efes had a field goal from the paint by Tyus, leading 6-2 past the fourth minute. With the score 6-12 at 6.30 following the opponent’s scoring run within 2.30 minutes, Ahmet Çakı called a timeout. Unable to score within the remaining duration after the timeout, Efes was trailing 6-20 at the end of the first 10 minutes of the game. Starting the second quarter with Dunston’s accurate free throw, Efes was trailing 10-22 in the 11th minute after Granger’s three pointer. Reaching 12 points with Cedi, Efes was behind 18-32 into the 15th minute following Birkan and Heurtel’s three point field goals. Scoring in the remaining four minutes of the half with Heurtel from the outside and with Dunston, Saric and Tyus from the paint, Anadolu Efes went to the locker room trailing 30-37 at the halftime.
As Heurtel opened the score sheet for Efes in the second half with a three pointer, Efes was behind 35-40 past the 24th minute after Cedi’s two accurate shots from the free throw line. With Saric’s three pointer and Dunston’s three-point play helped by an and-one, the score was 41-44 in the 26th minute. Scoring with Granger and Diebler in the remaining duration, Efes tied the game 52-52 while heading into the final quarter. Hitting the three pointer with Saric in our first possession in the final quarter, Efes reclaimed the lead after a long time: 55-52. As Efes was ahead 61-57 at 31.40 with six points by Heurtel, the opponent tied the game at 33.20, and Ahmet Çakı called a timeout. With an accurate shot from the free throw line by Dunston and a three pointer by Heurtel after the timeout, the score was 65-61 in the 35th minute. Leading 69-64 into the final 3.30 minutes of the match with four points by Granger, Efes defended well and hit the three pointer with Saric with 2.30 to play, increasing the lead to eight points: 72-64. Leading 74-69 into the last two minutes of the match with Dunston’s points, Anadolu Efes had four points by Granger and two points by Heurtel, and left the court victorious 80-72.
