
Our team started the game with Şehmus, Loyd, Cordinier, Ercan and Dessert. With baskets from Ercan and Loyd, we were ahead 6-3 in the second minute. While Şehmus also contributed to the scoring, Ercan added six more points to reach 10, and we led 16-8 at the fifth minute. In the second five-minute part of the quarter, we scored with Cordinier inside and with Loyd and Smits from the free-throw line, finishing the first period of the game ahead 22-15. We opened the second quarter with a spectacular dunk from Jones, and the 12th minute passed with us leading 24-17. With points from Şehmus and Loyd, we increased the lead to 12 at the 13th minute: 31-19. As the score tightened to 31-27 at 16:30, we responded to the opponent’s baskets with Ercan and Weiler-Babb and we went into halftime trailing 41-40.
In the second half, after tying the game with Cordinier in the 22nd minute, we took a 46-43 lead with a three-pointer from Loyd. With points from Ercan and Şehmus, we entered the 25th minute leading 53-48. After five points from Loyd, we held a 58-54 advantage in the 27th minute. We were unable to score in the final three minutes of the quarter, and the game entered the last 10 minutes tied at 58-58. We opened the final period with a basket from Şehmus and regained the lead in the 31st minute: 60-58. Our 61st point came from Smits, but when the score reached 61-68 in the 36th minute, coach Kokoskov called a timeout. After the timeout, with points from Şehmus and Ercan, we entered the 39th minute trailing 70-69. Although we made two three-pointers with Loyd in the closing moments, we could not retake the lead and left the court with a 78-75 defeat.
