
The starting five of our team was Larkin, Weiler-Babb, Erkan, Smits and Ercan. Our first basket came from Weiler-Babb at 4:30: 2-7. Weiler-Babb also hit a three-pointer and we trailed 8-5 in the sixth minute. Dozier came off the bench and scored consecutive points to tie the game, and after baskets from Jones and Smits, the first quarter ended 16-16. We opened the second period with a three-pointer from Loyd and took our first lead in the 11th minute: 19-16. Ercan contributed seven points in this part to make it 26-20 in the 15th minute. Dozier took over in the second five minutes of the quarter, scoring 10 points and we went into halftime ahead 36-33.
Our first basket of the second half came from Larkin as we led 38-36 in the 22nd minute. Points from Weiler-Babb, Smits and Ercan kept us ahead 45-43 in the 25th minute. Larkin’s three-pointer at 25:30 made it 48-45. However, we failed to score for the next 4:30 minutes and entered the final quarter trailing 59-48. We began the last period with a mid-range basket from Larkin and trailed 61-50 in the 32nd minute. After baskets from Weiler-Babb and Loyd inside, Dozier hit a three-pointer to bring it to 57-63 in the 35th minute. Following Ercan’s layup, Larkin made a three-pointer to make it 62-66 at 36:30, forcing the visiting team to call a timeout. After the timeout, baskets from Weiler-Babb and Larkin cut the margin to two points in the 38th minute: 66-68. After Milan scored, Loyd added a basket under the rim to make it 68-70. Dozier’s basket reduced the gap to one point in the final 44 seconds: 70-71. With 14 seconds left, Dozier hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 73-73 and send it to overtime.
In the first overtime, Milan took a 79-73 lead in the opening 1:30, before Ercan scored inside to make it 75-79. After Loyd’s three-pointer and a basket from Weiler-Babb, we went ahead 80-79 in the 43rd minute. Dozier’s four points put us up 84-81 with 25 seconds remaining, but the visitors tied the game again at 84-84 with a three-pointer in the final 11 seconds. We couldn’t score on the last possession and the first overtime ended 84-84.
We started the second overtime with five points from Dozier and led 91-89 in the 48th minute. Smits hit two free throws in the 49th minute to make it 91-93. Loyd scored inside to make it 93-95 with 7.8 seconds left. We couldn’t score again in the remaining time and lost the game 97-93.
