
Our team started the game with Loyd, Weiler-Babb, Cordinier, Ercan and Smits. With scores from Ercan and Weiler-Babb, we led 4-3 in the opening minute. After consecutive baskets by Cordinier and a lay-up from Ercan, we were up 14-10 in the fifth minute. In the second half of the quarter, we scored one free throw with Weiler-Babb and two with Dessert and the first 10 minutes ended in a 17-17 tie. We opened the second quarter with a close-range basket from Şehmus to regain the lead at 19-17. After three-pointers from Ercan and Smits and additional points from Cordinier, we held a 29-27 advantage in the 15th minute. In this period, Beaubois stepped on the court for the first time since his long injury and scored his first points. With contributions from Smits and Cordinier as well, we went into halftime leading 41-37.
We began the second half with a basket inside by Dessert, extending the score to 43-37. Real Madrid tied the game at 43-43 in the 23rd minute, but three-pointers from Ercan and Smits put us back in front 49-47 in the 25th minute. With points from Weiler-Babb and Smits, the 27th minute saw the game still tied at 54-54. In the remaining three minutes of the quarter, we scored two points with Ercan and a three-pointer with Beaubois, entering the final 10 minutes trailing 60-59. In the final period, our first basket came from Şehmus, putting us ahead again at 61-60. After three-pointers from Beaubois and Ercan, we led 67-65 entering the 33rd minute. With points from Smits and Ercan, we were down 74-72 heading into the 38th minute. Although we hit a three-pointer with Beaubois in the final two minutes, we couldn’t regain the lead and lost the game 81-75.
