Born in the United States and also a national team player for his country, James began his professional career with Croatian team, KK Zagreb in 2012.

After playing in several countries, he made his EuroLeague debut with Kosner Baskonia in 2014 and quickly became one of the EuroLeague’s standout figures thanks to performances with Kosner Baskonia, Panathinaikos Aktor, Olimpia Milan, CSKA Moscow, and AS Monaco.

The veteran was named EuroLeague MVP in 2024 and was honored in 2025 by being included among the “Top 25 Players in EuroLeague History.”

James won the Alphonso Ford Trophy as EuroLeague’s top scorer in 2019, has been named to the All-EuroLeague First Team twice and the Second Team three times.

James had stints in the NBA with the Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Pelicans, and Brooklyn Nets, and has won numerous domestic league and cup titles in Europe.

In the 2025–2026 EuroLeague season he averaged 16.5 points, 6.4 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 0.9 steals.
