
Pablo Laso began his coaching career in the 2003-2004 season with AB Castelló in Spain’s Second Division. One season later, he took over as head coach of Valencia. After spending two seasons there, he worked in the Second Division with Cantabria in the 2006-2007 season and then coached Gipuzkoa in the ACB League between 2007 and 2011. In 2011, Laso made the most significant breakthrough of his coaching career by returning to Real Madrid -where he had previously played- this time as head coach. He spent 11 years with the Madrid club, enjoying the most successful period of his coaching career. After leaving Real Madrid in 2022, the experienced coach served as head coach of Germany’s Bayern Munich in the 2023-2024 season and Spain’s Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz in the 2024-2025 season.
Laso began his playing career in 1984 with Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, where he played for 11 seasons. Between 1995 and 1997, he wore the Real Madrid jersey. He later played for Italy’s Pallacanestro Trieste and Spain’s Unicaja Malaga, Girona, Lleida Basquet and Valladolid.
During his coaching career, Pablo Laso won six Spanish League titles, six Spanish Cups and seven Spanish Super Cups with Real Madrid. He was also named the “Coach of the Year” in ACB five times.
With Real Madrid, Laso celebrated EuroLeague championships in 2015 and 2018 and was named EuroLeague Coach of the Year in both seasons. In 2015, he also won the Intercontinental Cup with Real Madrid.
In the 2023-2024 season, he led Bayern Munich to the German League championship and the German Cup title.
