
With this result, we advanced to the semi-finals of the Ziraat Bank Turkish Cup. In the semi-final, we will face Beşiktaş Gain on Friday, February 20, at Sinan Erdem Sports Hall.
Our team started the game with the lineup of Loyd, Weiler-Babb, Dozier, Ercan and Poirier. In the first five minutes, we scored through Weiler-Babb, Poirier and Dozier without allowing a single basket, taking a 7-0 lead by the fifth minute. Three-pointers from Loyd and Ercan extended the score to 13-2 in the seventh minute, forcing the home team to call a timeout. After the timeout, we continued to score with Şehmus and Dozier and closed the first 10 minutes of the game with a 24-4 lead. We opened the second quarter with two made free throws each from Lee and Loyd and by the 14th minute, we were ahead 28-14. Points from Ercan and Loyd made it 34-16 in the 17th minute. In the remaining minutes of the half, we scored through Poirier and Lee and went into halftime leading 41-24.
We began the second half with points from Ercan and Dozier and by the 22nd minute, we held a 46-32 advantage. Following baskets from Loyd and Poirier, we extended the lead to 53-38 in the 26th minute. In the remaining part of the quarter, Dozier knocked down a three-pointer and Lee added a layup, as we entered the final 10 minutes with a 58-41 lead. In the final period, we scored through Şehmus and Swider in the first three minutes to make it 64-46 in the 33rd minute. After a three-pointer by Şehmus, baskets from Erkan and Lee increased the margin to 23 points in the 35th minute: 71-48. We kept our lead in the second five-minute stretch of the quarter and following points from Şehmus, Jones and Lee, we left the court with an 88-67 victory.
