Player Career
Rolands Smits began his professional career in 2012 with the EBA, the second team of Spain's Fuenlabrada club, and signed with Avila CB the following season. That same season, Smits joined Fuenlabrada's senior team, where he played until the end of the 2016-17 season. In September 2017, the Latvian player signed with another Spanish club, Barcelona, and spent the season on loan at Fuenlabrada. Smits began playing for Barcelona in the 2018-19 season, playing for them for four consecutive seasons, and was transferred to Lithuania's Zalgiris Kaunas in the 2022-23 season. After two seasons with Zalgiris Kaunas, Smits joined our team ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Rolands Smits was named the Eurocup's "Rising Star" during the 2016-17 season while playing for Fuenlabrada. Smits won the Spanish League championship with Barcelona in the 2020-21 season and the Spanish Cup in 2019, 2021, and 2022. The talented player also won the Lithuanian League championship with Zalgiris Kaunas in the 2022-23 season and the Lithuanian Cup in 2023 and 2024.
Smits also won the Presidential Cup with our team at the start of the 2024-25 season.
