Hosting the Yukatel Merkezefendi Belediyesi Basket team in the first-week match of ING Basketball Super League, the regular duration ended with a tie: 86-86. Anadolu Efes won the game 94-93 in the overtime. Anadolu Efes was 46-37 ahead at half-time of the match that was played in Sinan Erdem Sports Hall.
With the ceremony held before the match, the championship flag, which includes our 15th championship in the ING Basketball Super League last season, took its place at the Sinan Erdem Sports Hall.
Starting the match with Larkin, Micic, Tolga, Moerman, and Dunston, Anadolu Efes’s first points in the league were scored by Micic. Larkin, Tolga, and Moerman’s scoring game set the score table to 19-8 heading into the television time-out. Returning from the time-out Dunston and Moerman scored and our team was 25-13 ahead at the 8th minute. Our new player Petrusev contributed to scoring and our team finished the first quarter 29-18 ahead with Anderson and Petrusev’s points. Starting the second quarter with Micic’s points, Petrusev and Buğrahan’s baskets set the score table to 38-27 at 14:30, so the rival team called a time-out. Returning from the time-out Petrusev scored 6 and Larkin scored 3 points and our team was leading the score table 46-37 at the end of the first quarter.
Starting the second half with Dunston’s baskets, our team was 50-42 ahead at the 12th minute. After the score was a tie at 13:30, 50-50, coach Ergin Ataman called a time-out. Returning from the time-out Micic scored a three-pointer and our team was 53-52 ahead. Larkin’s three-pointer at 26:30 and set the score table to 56-54, then within the remaining duration, Petrusev and Micic scored and our team was 65-66 ahead at the end of the third quarter. Starting the final quarter with Micic’s 4 and Buğrahan’s 3 points, our team was 72-69 ahead at the 33rd minute. Dunston’s underneath point set the score table to 74-69 at the 35th minute, then Micic scored a long-range shot at 36:30 and set the score table to 77-74. Dunston and Moerman’s points at the last 2 minutes of the match set the score table to 82-78. In the remaining duration, Dunston and Micic scored 2 points each and after the rival team’s points the regular duration ended with a tie: 86-86.
Starting the overtime with Dunston’s 4 points, our team was 90-88 ahead at the 41st minute. Micic’s three-pointer at the 42nd minute set the score table to 93-90, then Dunston’s 1 point from the free-throw line set the score table to 94-93 at the 44th minute. In the remaining duration, both teams failed to score and our team won the match with a score of 94-93.
