Defeating İstanbul BŞB 94-66 at the eighth week match of Spor Toto Basketball League, Anadolu Efes coach Dusan Ivkovic stated his thoughts at the post-game press conference:
“Today, Anadolu Efes was the better side on the court and I believe we deserved the victory. As to the match, we observed two different halves. We were good in the first half, yet only until the final three minutes of it. Despite being ahead 33-26, we lost control. We weren’t able to grab the rebounds and couldn’t make use of wide open shots. At halftime, my team realized what was going on, and made a much more aggressive start into the second half. We probably had our best second-half performance so far this season. In that half, we were organized well and got transition points through excellent game control. This second half may be a new start for Anadolu Efes. Our recent performances on defense were insufficient not only for the Turkish League, but also for modern basketball. However, we made a brand new start. We respected İstanbul BŞB. They are a very talented team, and they have very talented weapons on offense. We were able to keep them at 66 points while they average 84 points. Our defense was the key to the game. Starting tomorrow morning, we will carry on with our training right from where we left off...”
Anadolu Efes’s prolific player Alex Tyus also stated his thoughts: “Today, we performed really well on defense. We kept the opponent at 66 points. This shows our high level of focus on defense. We performed really well.”
