Ataman: “It was a tough week for us…”

Despite going to Crvena Zvezda away game with a lacking team, Anadolu Efes head coach Ergin Ataman, who reached the 75-64 victory, stated his thoughts post-game:

"I am very pleased with my team’s game tonight and proud of my players. Even though we lacked our key players; Pleiss, Dunston who play underneath and, Micic and Beaubois, we played our usual game. We played our basketball we played for the last two years tonight. It didn’t matter who played on the court, and the bench contributed very well as well. Buğrahan and Doğuş played fantastically. We’ve played an amazing third quarter. And in the end, it was an amazing victory. It was a tough week for us. Injuries, Covid-19 problems with some of our players and my assistant, and the National Team matches affected us and we couldn’t train for the entire week.

I would like to thank the Turkish Basketball Federation. They’ve granted a day off for our players, and so they were able to play tonight. They will play for the National Team tomorrow. FIBA and Euroleague must find a solution to this because these players would love to play for the National Team as well. National Team is an emotional matter for Turkey and Serbia. Our players had to play tonight, they will play tomorrow and on Sunday as well. The solution could be to increase the double weeks for the players to play for the National Team. I’m hoping that a solution will be found this summer because basketball isn’t only Euroleague, National Team is also very important.”
