Anadolu Efes Goes 5-for-5…

In the fifth week of the Türkiye Sigorta Basketball Super League, we hosted Manisa Basket and emerged victorious with an 85-73 win. The game, held at the Basketball Development Center, saw our team trailing 41-32 at halftime. With this result, we secured our fifth victory in five games in the Basketball Super League.

Prior to the game, a moment of silence was observed to honor the passing of former Board Member and one of the most significant figures in European basketball, Mr. Christos Komninos.

Our starting five for the game featured Hollatz, Elijah, Nwora, Ercan, and Oturu. Oturu scored our first points, and we led 3-2 at the end of the first minute. With contributions from Ercan and Hollatz, we held a 9-8 advantage in the third minute. After Elijah’s basket, the game went into the TV timeout tied at 11-11 in the fifth minute. Coming out of the timeout, Nwora and Oturu scored, making it 16-19 by 7:30. In the remaining time, Beaubois added one point, while Doğuş scored two, and we finished the first quarter trailing 25-19.

The second quarter began with a layup from Doğuş, bringing the score to 21-25 by the 11th minute. When the score reached 21-30 at 12:30, Coach Mijatovic called a timeout. Following the break, Elijah and Hollatz contributed to the scoreboard, but we entered the 18th minute trailing 35-26. In the final two minutes of the half, Nwora and Willis hit three-pointers, but we headed to the locker room down 41-32 at halftime.

The second half started strong with an 8-0 run from Oturu and Willis, cutting the lead to one at 40-41 in the 21st minute. Over the next four minutes, Oturu, Elijah, and Hollatz added points, and at 25:30, Ercan helped us reclaim the lead at 53-52. Contributions from Oturu, Ercan, and Willis brought the score to 64-60 in the 28th minute, and Nwora’s four points late in the quarter allowed us to enter the final 10 minutes with a 68-62 lead.

Beaubois scored our first points in the final period, extending the lead to 72-62 by the 32nd minute. Elijah’s five points pushed the score to 77-69 at 36:30. Beaubois added four more points, and with baskets from Doğuş and Elijah, we entered the final minute leading 85-73. Maintaining our dominance, we closed out the game with an 85-73 win.
